Why is this page text-only?

It's hard to imagine a world without heroes. At the American Red Cross, we work with heroes everyday. They're the backbone of every hometown and represent the essence of our organization. Hometown Heroes touch our lives each day – making us feel safe, making us feel proud.

Like our firefighters, police and members of the military, Hometown Heroes are the people who risk their lives for the greater good. Like our teachers, health workers and volunteers, they are individuals who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others.

Who are your Hometown Heroes? Are they parents who work to comfort children after a disaster has driven them from their home? Individuals who roll up their sleeves to donate blood that will save lives? Men and women who volunteer time, talent and energy to provide life-saving services to those in need across town, across the country and around the world? Families that write a much needed check when they have their own bills to pay?

Heroes may be hard to classify, but each displays something — courage, dedication, concern, conviction — that moves and inspires us to do more and to be more.
