Mary has been a Red Cross volunteer for more than 50 years, specializing in family services. She answers the call for help every time her help is needed.

Mary was vacationing in New York on September 11, 2001, and decided volunteering her services was the best help she could provide on that terrible day. When she returned to her home in Los Angeles a few days later, she was asked by the chapter to return to New York to work on the 9/11 relief operation, where she spent five weeks between the Red Cross operations at Staten Island operation and Canal Street. More recently Mary helped provide family services for the Red Cross during the wildfires in San Diego in 2003, the Santa Clarita floods in 2004, and during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Mary worked in Los Angeles at the Red Cross family assistance center that provided aid to nearly 2000 displaced Gulf Coast families.
