Brian in a word... Courageous
Brian is a Hometown Hero because...
Last April, Firefighter Brian Elliott responded to a call of a man stuck in the water in Wilton. The heavy rain that day had produced flooding around town and the rivers and streams were overflowing.
An elderly man, who was trying to move branches that were pushed up from the stream, fell into the water. He was able to wedge the branch he was holding into some rocks as the current dragged him out into the middle of the water.
Firefighter Elliott attached himself to a lifeline and with the assistance of his fellow firefighters, police officers and EMT’s he made his way out to the victim. He attempted to secure the lifeline to the man, but the current was too strong. He held onto the victim and they were pulled to shore, and both men were unharmed in the process.
